Walked around in Hanoi to visit some of the sights and met possible future partners for lunch in a fancy, noisy restaurant close to our hotel.

Lai Cao – Luc Yen – Hanoi

Started quite early in the morning and headed to Luc Yen, famous for colourfull gems like rubies, sapphires, and spinells in snow-white marble. Unfortunatelly, they are manufactured into kitsch sculptures and stuff – raw material rarely to be found. Nice to see all the gems anyway.

How the gems are cut

Here they are

Kitsch from beautiful rocks. Nice handwork though.

Back in the motorcycle hell of Ha Noi. (Note the pink helmet with an extra notch for ladies’ plait of hair)

Lao Cai

Weather didn’t get better, so we decided to drive to Lao Cai, where we arrived around lunch time. Had a walk around and a very nice fruit-lunch in the park (view to China).
